Why take the risk?

House fires and electric shocks, which can be caused by faulty appliances, are amongst our biggest fears. Yet most households still don’t register their electrical items and therefore manufacturers are unable to contact them in the event of a recall.

Faulty appliances alone cause over £40 million of damage in the UK every year and around 46 deaths are caused annually by electrical fires. So why take the risk?

To help ensure products and appliances remain safe, the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), a not for profit organisation set up Register My Appliance (RMA) as a not-for-profit safety initiative.

Nationally, less than half of adults (43 per cent) register their appliances with a manufacturer. To encourage more people to register AMDEA created Register My Appliance which provides access to the registration pages of over 60 leading brands of domestic appliances.

Register My Appliance is an easy to navigate online portal where landlords, their agents or their tenants can register their appliances so they are kept informed should there be any product recalls or safety notices.

In addition to the registration section, the website includes other valuable features including a safety repair and recall listings, hints for household safety, tips for appliance care, explanations of product testing and standards, guarantees and warranties and the AMDEA members’ code of practice on product safety.

Why register?

  • Be the first to know of any safety repairs or recalls
  • Improve your after sales service
  • Keep in touch with upgrade news

.

Additionally, if you’ve just purchased a new appliance – why not register right now!  Also check the details of your older appliances. Most brands will let you register these too!
