More people search online for a new home over the Christmas period than any other time of the year – and looking at official figures supplied by Rightmove this month, we can expect more of the same again over this Christmas period and into 2019!!
Over the last several years, there has been a steady increase in the number of active buyers looking for their new home online over the Christmas period, with Christmas Day pulling in millions of page views on Rightmove, and even more on Boxing Day! Christmas 2015/2016 saw a further increase of 5% in online page views.
2017 saw the introduction of the revamped Rightmove website with updated logo/branding, larger property images and better features; plus the introduction of the mobile version of the website, and updated apps for iPhone, iPad, Kindle and Android. Potential buyers who unwrap new tablets or smartphones at Christmas will be eager to hunt for the perfect property. The Rightmove app was downloaded on various platforms thousands of times between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve!

This had an impact on traffic during the Christmas 2017 period. As always predicted there was a huge surge on Christmas Day 2017, dropping off slightly until New Years Day 2018, when there was an even larger increase in traffic that continued to hover around the 40 million views mark, right through the month of January 2018 (see figures below supplied by Rightmove in November 2018)
