Surveyors Holidays

Surveyors are never off duty, whether stamping on floors or tapping walls when visiting a friend’s house or sitting in the garden sipping a glass of wine and looking longingly at the chimney on the neighbour’s house (wanting to tell them the pots are cracked and the flaunching probably needs replacing). Or the gutters are mis-aligned and will cause dampness to the external walls which will eventually manifest itself internally with dire consequences.

Taking the dog for a walk or slightly longer walk, he is a Spaniel so length of walk is no problem for him, is for me, just to monitor the crack on the outside wall of that Victorian house on the corner of the High Street and Station Road.

This of course extends to holidays in this country. Having spotted a big clump of Japanese Knotweed in a park in Telford and on a canal bank in Manchester in the previous two years it was satisfying to complete the hat trick this year with a small clump in a park in Derbyshire.

Even the fact my phone had run out of charge still didn’t stop me taking a photograph on my wife’s phone and e-mailing it to the office.

The lengths we go to.
