Ray Smith

Ray Smith FRICS, Senior Partner

Ray was elected to Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 1980 and then up to Fellowship in 1996.

He went on to start his career in valuation and surveys in 1979 at Messrs Rutters, in Bury St Edmunds but before this he worked within residential sales. Ray then joined Watsons in 1987 as a Senior Chartered Surveyor. He was elected as Senior Partner in 2015.

Ray carries out a large variety of work across the region for the company. If he’s not carrying out a survey somewhere, he will be mentoring our Trainee Chartered Surveyors with his wealth of expertise!

Gavin Swinbourne

Gavin Swinbourne, Regional Chartered Surveyor (West), Associate

Gavin was elected a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2004. He obtained a degree in Real Estate Management from Oxford Brookes University in 2001.

He joined Watsons in 2002 as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor and shadowed surveyors within Watsons for two full years. Gavin went on to pass his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2004. Gavin was made an Associate of Watsons in 2010

Since the start of his career, Gavin has built up an incredible knowledge of the local region and the property market. Gavin covers the North Norfolk region.

Mark Fidgett

Mark Fidgett MRICS, Chartered Surveyor

Mark is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He obtained a degree in Building Surveying from the University of Reading in 2013 (a RICS accredited course). Mark joined Watsons the same year as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor and shadowed surveyors within Watsons for three full years, before passing his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in 2016.

Over the course of his career, Mark has built a breadth of knowledge of the local area and the property market. He’s always had a passion for property and enjoys the fact that his job allows him to visit a wide variety of residential properties and learn more about their history and construction.

Mike Tims

Mike Tims MRICS, BSc (Hons)

Mike attended the University of Greenwich and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management, graduating in 1995. Mike started his career carrying out professional valuations and survey work across Norfolk and North Suffolk. He was elected to membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 1999.

Joining Watsons in June 2018 as a Chartered Surveyor, Mike carries out RICS HomeBuyers Surveys, Building Surveys to name a few.

Zoe Plant

Zoe Plant MRICS, BSc (Hons)

Zoe attended The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Rural Land Management, graduating in 2005. Zoe went on to start her career as an Assistant Land Agent, working in both Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. She was elected to membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2009.

Joining Watsons in April 2019 as a Chartered Surveyor, Zoe carries out RICS HomeBuyers Surveys and Building Surveys. Zoe covers West Norfolk and parts of Cambridgeshire.

John Garfoot

John Garfoot MRICS

John attended the College of Estate Management and started his career at an Estate Agency in Suffolk. He subsequently held management and senior management appointments across East Anglia, South Wales and the Midlands. John was elected to membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2000.

Joining Watsons in April 2019 as a Chartered Surveyor, John carries out RICS HomeBuyers Surveys, Building Surveys, mortgage valuations, dilapidations, and party wall matters to name a few.
