Camera Pole Surveys - A Safe, Effective Way to Inspect Your Property

A camera pole survey is a safe and effective way to inspect your property for potential damage or defects. It is a non-invasive method that uses a telescopic camera on a pole to access hard-to-reach areas, such as the roof, gutters, and chimneys. Sectional poles allow surveyors to extend a camera up a number of meters and hold a 44ft extending wireless HD camera, which simultaneously links to a touchscreen display at the bottom of the pole. This creates real-time images.

As a company, I believe we are amongst the minority in offering camera pole surveys as an addition to our Bespoke Building Survey. In the last fortnight, I have carried out property inspections using the camera pole, allowing me to confidently comment on the condition of flat roofs, valley gutters, inner-facing roof slopes, and solar panels. Without using the camera pole, we would have had to recommend further investigation by a roofer/builder with long ladders, which ultimately adds cost and time to the survey process and relies on comments by a tradesperson who may have ulterior motives in the report of their findings.

Below are images from three properties where the camera pole has proved invaluable to me (as a surveyor) in terms of understanding what is going on inside the property because of the issues found externally, and, to the client in being able to advise them immediately on the current condition and any problems discovered without any ambiguity, delay or uncertainty. The camera pole is useful in several situations, be it a property with a complex roof structure, hidden roof valleys, etc, but also for property in built-up urban areas where the close proximity of boundaries precludes a view of aspects of the roof.
