The Landlord Playbook: Catch Up on Parts 1–4
Letting a property involves much more than simply finding a tenant. From the decisions made before a property reaches the market to the way a tenancy is managed once someone moves in, each stage plays a part in creating a successful letting.
That’s why we created The Landlord Playbook — a practical series designed to guide landlords through the key stages of letting and managing a property.
With the first four parts now available, here’s a quick look at the journey so far.
Part 1: Where to Start
Before letting a property, it’s important to understand what being a landlord involves. The first part of the series looks at some of the key considerations before getting started, including responsibilities, costs, planning ahead and deciding how the property will be managed.
Part 2: Preparing Your Property
Good preparation can make a real difference when bringing a property to market. Part 2 explores the practical steps involved in getting a property ready to let, from presentation and maintenance through to the safety and compliance requirements landlords need to consider.
Part 3: Finding the Right Tenant
Once the property is ready, attention turns to finding a suitable tenant. This part looks at the importance of effective marketing, well-managed viewings and a clear referencing process, helping landlords create a strong foundation for the tenancy from the outset.
Part 4: Managing the Tenancy Well
The work doesn’t stop when a tenant moves in. Part 4 looks at what good property management should include, from communication and maintenance to inspections, record keeping and the ongoing oversight needed throughout a tenancy.
More To Come
And the series isn’t finished yet — Part 5 of The Landlord Playbook is coming soon.
