A bustling medieval market town in North East Norfolk, North Walsham sits midway between the North Norfolk Coast, the Norfolk Broads and Norwich.
With a wide variety of houses in the area and a well-established residential community, our North Walsham office has been providing property sales and lettings since 2001. North Walsham boasts a popular weekly market in the centre of the high street. The market cross presides over the marketplace, having been built to collect the rent for the market stalls in bygone days.
The village is a popular residential area with an abundance of local shops well-known supermarkets such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Lidl nearby. North Walsham also has great educational facilities for all ages – including Paston College, once the school of Lord Nelson. A well-equipped medical centre, library, post-office, numerous pubs and various B&Bs make it an ideal place to live or to visit yet, somehow, it has not lost its old-world charm with thatched roofs, stone walls and many quaint and charming cottages.
North Walsham is known for its sporting prowess due to the Vikings rugby team and features a local fitness centre and a state-of-the-art cinema for more gentle leisure pursuits. Nearby Bacton Woods is great for a woodland walk or for mountain biking. The town itself sits on the North Walsham and Dilham Canal, Norfolk’s only privately-owned canal.
The town is served by North Walsham railway station, on the Bittern Line between Norwich, Cromer and Sheringham. The main road through the town runs between King’s Lynn and Mundesley. Nearby Mundesley sits in a dip in the cliffs and with only a short climb up a footpath brings you out onto the cliff top where there are spectacular views across the whole of the village and right across to Happisburgh lighthouse.
